Chez Toni
Where? 1, Rue des Artisans, L-3812 Schifflange
The pizzeria Chez Toni in Schifflange is above all a family story! A family originally from Italy, far from imagining that the takeover of a simple café in the south of the Grand Duchy would become a reference address 50 years later.
1972, a café for sale, rue des Artisans in Schifflange. This is how the story of the house known today as "Restaurant Pizzeria Chez Toni" began.
Antonio Ceccacci, originally from Italy, and his wife and their three children, moved to Luxembourg and took over the establishment, at a time when the mining basin of the Grand Duchy was in the midst of reindustrialisation.
Christina Ceccacci, for her part, brings her know-how for home-made Italian pasta. Step by step, the café opened up to small restaurants, and today it is an essential reference in the south of the country.
In 1991 their son Luigi Ceccacci and his wife Sylvie Valent took over the restaurant. The cuisine remains authentic but the setting evolves and adapts to the trend of the moment. Five years later, the restaurant was extended and now accommodates up to 200 covers per service, under the responsibility of its chef de salle Mounir, who has remained faithful to his post ever since.
The same year, the family inaugurated a small 12-room hotel, known today as the "City Lodge Apartment-Hotel", which since 2011 has offered a wide range of cosy and warm flats.
The restaurant has become over the years a very popular place for its homemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas. Its head chef Marijan in turn brings a new palette of suggestions that change with the seasons.
2022 marks a historic year for Chez Toni as the restaurant celebrates its 50th anniversary. It was also the year that Deborah Ceccacci, daughter of Luigi & Sylvie, joined the management team, marking a first step in the continuity of the family restaurant.
For all these years, the Ceccacci family and its loyal team have been welcoming you with passion! Thank you for sharing our family history.
Whether it is the authentic homemade pasta as it was in 1972, the unchanged wood-fired pizza oven, the loyal staff for years, the management from father to son, or simply the personal touches in the surroundings: Every detail tells the story of our family.
