Minett Trail: Differdange ➡️ Pétange - 16km (19.04)
Hike from Differdange to Pétange with our hiking guide. This demanding route of around 16 kilometers is a nature experience and will challenge you. After the hike, you can take the train back to the starting point.
You will experience the various phases of iron ore mining over around 16 kilometers.
You walk through the Kiemerchen-Scheiergronn-Groussebësch nature reserve to the former workers' village of Lasauvage. There are various legends about the small village with its colorful houses, such as that of the wild woman. She is said to have once lived here. Our tour guide Alex will certainly be happy to introduce you to this legend.
After Lasauvage, the route continues in the direction of Fond-de-Gras. Iron ore used to be transported here to the steel works by rail, which can still be seen today.
The guided hike has another highlight in store for you: the former open-cast mining area of Prënzebierg - Giele Botter! Here you can clearly see the mining terraces and how man has changed nature.
After this challenging hike with lots of ups and downs, you only have one more descent to the train station in Pétange, where the guided tour ends.
Tip: Park your car in Pétange beforehand and take the train to the starting point in Differdange. After the hike, you will find yourself directly at your car. At 8h38, a train leaves Pétange in direction to Differdange.
The guided hike will be in luxembourgish! Don't forget to bring enough food and drink for the hike!
